Bernita D. Rine, 97, a resident of Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle, departed this life on the morning of Monday, May 15, 2017.
She was born on February 28, 1920, in Shippensburg, the daughter of the late William D. and Lillian M. Ocker Fleck. Bernita married Edmond A. Rine on October 23, 1941, at the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1994.
Bernita was employed as the Admissions Office Supervisor at Dickinson College, and then for the Cumberland/Perry Association for Retarded Citizens, from where she retired.
She was a former member of the Hays Grove United Methodist Church and most recently attended the Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church. Bernita, along-side her husband, helped tend to their small farm and also enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Bernita is survived by her son, John W. (Dorothea) Rine of Carlisle; her daughter, Janet A. (Raymond) Barrick of Newville; three grandchildren, Matthew J. Rine of Hazleton, Thaddeus E. (Sandra) Barrick of Newville, and Rachael A. Findley of Newville; and two great grandchildren, Ayden B. and Nathaniel D. Findley, both of Newville.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the South Fairview First Church of God, Newville. Pastor Matt Purdy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hays Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
