Bernita Gilbert

Bernita N. Gilbert, 94, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 in the Episcopal Home.

Born June 5, 1922 in Shippensburg, PA. Bernita was a daughter of the late Mose Myers and Fannie Myrtle Diehl Ocker.

She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. Bernita taught the FaHoLa Sunday school class and was a very active in her church. She was the owner of the former Gilbert Day Care in Shippensburg. Bernita was a charter member of Farm Women’s Group #10.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Gilbert who died March 4, 1999 and one brother.

Bernita is survived by four children, Randall A. (Sharon) Gilbert of Shippensburg, Ronald A. (Karen) Doub of Pleasant Hall, Bonnie S. (David) Goshen of Lancaster, and Karen B. (Richard) Reed of Niceville, FL, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Ocker of Shippensburg, two sisters, Vivian Diller of Chambersburg, and Phyllis Hykes of Shippensburg.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 in the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will held Sunday from 5-7 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the services in the church.
