Barry “Butch” Eugene Armstrong, 72 of Shippensburg, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born February 16, 1943 in Chambersburg, PA. Barry was a son of Lillie E. Johnson Armstrong of Shippensburg and the late Omar E. Armstrong.
Barry was Veteran of Vietnam and retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He then retired from the United States Government at Ft. Detrick, MD. Barry also worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
He was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 2500 both in Shippensburg, and the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post # 46 in Chambersburg. Barry was a 1961 graduate of the Shippensburg High School.
In addition to Barry’s mother he is survived by his wife, Pauline D. Sleighter Armstrong, three daughters, Jennifer Brown of Virginia, Shelley Armstrong of North Carolina, and Raeanne Hanson of Missouri, a brother, Robert E. (Chris) Armstrong of Shippensburg, a step daughter, Charlene Verdier of Shippensburg, seven grandchildren, and a great grandson.
Graveside and military services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Officiating will be The Rev. Earl F. Stovall. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg.
