Barbara A. Miller, 79, of Camp Hill, died on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on February 25, 1932, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late William N. and Anna M. Hammond Miller.
Barbara graduated from the Shippensburg State Teachers College and then went on to teach in the Harrisburg Area School District, retiring in 1986.
In her younger years, she liked to bowl and play cards with her friends and colleagues. She also liked to read and travel, traveling to all 48 states in the continental United States at one time or another. Barbara was a very big advocate of the Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg Area Humane Societies and she was always very involved with Harrisburg Area Meals on Wheels.
Barbara is survived by her four sisters, Dorothy E. Daniels of Chambersburg; Rachel M. O’Donnell of Chambersburg; Mary E. Showvaker of Shippensburg; and Vivian J. Peters of Shippensburg; four nieces; two nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul K. Hauk will officiate. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter at 2325 Country Road Chambersburg, PA 17202.
