Barbara Jane Killian, 76, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Friday, November 12, 2021, almost eleven years after being a lung transplant recipient and survivor.
She was born on June 11, 1945, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Marion H. and Martha A. (Rhoades) Reese.
Early in life Barb worked at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, but spent the majority of her working life employed at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring as a packer after twenty-three years of work.
Barb really enjoyed fishing in her younger years and was always great at sewing. Those who knew Barb would know that she had a special talent for “jimmy-rigging” all kinds of things, but no matter what it ended up looking like, her amazing inventions always made things work. She had love for all kind of animals, especially elephants, and Barb also had a special place in her heart for her pet bird, Bobby. Barb was a member of the Life Center, Greencastle.
She is survived by her son, Kevin G. Killian and wife Jennifer of Shippensburg; her daughter, Tonia R. Killian and husband Kenny Thompson of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Kyler G. Killian and wife Sarah of Chambersburg; Laurell B. Killian of Shippensburg; and Jaden M. Killian of Shippensburg; three great grandchildren, Kinley, Kenzie, and Khloe; her ex-husband with whom she remained friends, Kenneth G. Killian of Shippensburg; two sisters, Patricia A. Bishop and husband Larry of Shippensburg and Donna L. Reese of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Richard A. Reese.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Cathy Pence will officiate. Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Wednesday morning at the funeral home. Barb will be laid to rest beside her parents in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
