Barbara Ann Clark, 90, of Newburg, departed this life peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in the presence of her family.
She was born on December 3, 1932, in Greencastle, a daughter of the late Edgar J. and Catherine M. (Hykes) Leidig. Barbara married Lewis H. Clark on October 23, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1999.
Early in life, Barbara worked at the former Biglerville Canning Factory. She spent the vast majority of her working life as a machine operator/weaver at the former Hoffman Mills, where she retired from after thirty-five years of employment. Barbara also worked part-time at Elmcroft, Shippensburg, for several years, after retiring from the silk mill.
Barbara was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church of God and was a very active member of the congregation. She was well known for her delicious apple and pumpkin pies which made many of for various church functions and friends and family birthdays. In addition to her church activities, Barbara enjoyed adult coloring and word puzzles, watching hallmark and western movies, and in her younger years, camping at Colonel Denning State Park and in Path Valley. Family time was very important to Barbara and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Deborah A. Pyne and husband John, Herbert Clark and wife Esther, and Bonnie Allen and husband Fred, all of Newburg; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and twenty two nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Charlotte Clark; and three siblings, Wilbur and Robert Leidig, and Gladys Wiser.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor’s Clinton Stevens and Dennis Hudson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
