Audrey Chamberlin

June 12, 1922 — November 26, 2013

Audrey E. Chamberlin, 91, a resident of Penn Hall, died peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

She was born on June 12, 1922, in Pond Bank, PA, a daughter of the late Bruce and Amanda Gilbert Myers.

Audrey worked at the former Shirt Craft and U-Wanna-Wash Frock Co’s., Towne Cleaners, all of Shippensburg, and the former Stanley Co. Chambersburg. Then, in 1966, Audrey moved to Herlong CA, with her husband, Donald R. Chamberlin, where she managed the Herlong Trailer Park and Sierra Dry Cleaners.

She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary for over fifty years, holding various offices during that time, as well as a life-member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, both of Shippensburg.

As a person, Audrey was an extremely hard worker throughout her life. She held a strong allegiance to her friends and had a great love of animals, rescuing and giving a home to many stray dogs and cats over the years. These are a few of the qualities which she passed on to both her daughters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Doris Jean “Jeannie” Madden and her husband Jerry of Chambersburg and Donna L. “Sissy” Gotshall and her husband Dennis of Shippensburg; grandson, Jerry P. Howell and wife Chris of Chambersburg; and granddaughter, Sally C. Brenneman and husband Brian of Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her first husband Harry R. Gettel; her second husband, Donald R. Chamberlin, who died on December 14, 2011; brother, John Myers; and two sisters, Margaret Warren and Gretna Rotz.

Her graveside funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2013, in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Chaplin Brenda Doyle will officiate. Viewing will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.
