Arthur Foust Gayman, 90, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on July 7, 1924, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Albert Benjamin and Elizabeth Mae Foust Gayman and married Martha Virginia Robinson on June 27, 1946, at the Newburg United Brethren Church, Newburg.
Arthur owned and operated his own dairy farm; served nine years as a Supervisor for Southampton Twp., Franklin Co.; and also drove school bus for the Shippensburg Area School District.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Orrstown and participated in the church’s food bank; volunteered at Shippensburg Meals on Wheels and also at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha; two daughters, Linda G. (Donald) Tosten and Julia I. (Larry R.) Rosenberry, both of Shippensburg; two sons, Keith A. (Janice) Gayman of Eldridge, IA and Alan E. (Lisa) Gayman of Shippensburg; two sisters, Pauline M. Smith of Shippensburg and A. Louise Creager of McConnellsburg; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald W. Gayman; and two siblings in infancy.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Matthew A. Tosten and Pastor William E. Myers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
