Arthur Robinson Ashway, 90, of Newburg, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville.
He was born on April 3, 1934, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Arthur E. and Violet C. (Gallagher) Ashway.
In younger years, Arthur farmed, but for the majority of his working life he drove truck for Toma Concrete; Brown, Davis, and White; and Valley Quarries/New Enterprise.
He was a member of the Newburg First Church of God; Minnequa Social Club; Hub City Club; Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168; and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Pamela Scarlet Ambrose of Pittsburgh; granddaughter, Penelope Pugh of Shippensburg; grandson, Travis Pugh of Chambersburg; three sisters, Joyce Traxler of Newburg, April Ashway-Railing of Shippensburg, and Sherry Hartlaub of Dover; two brothers, Blaine Ashway and Roger Ashway, both of Newburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Glenda M. Ashway, who died on November 4, 2021; two sons, Michael and William Ashway; one brother, Carl Ashway; and two sisters, Miriam Kemper and Gloria Asper.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at the funeral home.
