Arlene Marie Jumper, 87, a resident of the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, departed this life on the evening of Monday, July 31, 2023, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on September 17, 1935, in Mechanicsburg, a daughter of the late John A. and Edna (Sheets) Orris.
Arlene worked at the former R & S Dress Factory, Shippensburg, and the former Newville Ribbon Mill. She was a former member of the Green Spring First Church of God, where she was the head of their nursery and also taught Sunday School.
In her free time Arlene enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, plastic canvas, and crocheting. She also liked to garden, work in her flower beds, and watch Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. Arlene was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed spending time and caring for her two grandchildren as well as her cats.
She is survived by her son, John L. jumper and fiancé Patricia Coy of Fayetteville; her daughter, Shirley A. Jones of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Travis Gutshall of Shippensburg and Tiffany Gutshall of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Jumper, who died on March 10, 1997; and two siblings.
Her funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Phillip Steele will officiate. Interment in the Newville Cemetery will be private. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday evening at the funeral home.
