Anthony Gardner

Anthony C. “Tony” Gardner, 57, of Newburg, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 3, 1953 in Chambersburg, he was a son of Betty A. Gabler Gardner of Newburg and the late Charles B. Gardner.
He was the Assistant Director of Utilities and Energy Management at Shippensburg University and was a part-time self employed mason. Tony was a Board member of the Shippensburg Area School District, a 1971 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High School and a 1973 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College where he received a degree in landscaping and horticulture. He was an avid hunter and woodworker and especially enjoyed time spent at his mountain ground.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Gail I. Mix Gardner whom he married August 18, 1973, three daughters; Angela R. Landi and her husband Jeremy, Carrie E. Robinson and her husband Ray all of Shippensburg, and Jessica I. Ouedraogo and her husband Cyrille of State College, one son, Andrew W. Gardner, four grandchildren; Adelyn, Anthony, and Jeron Landi, and Elizabeth Robinson, three sisters; Christine A. Varner and her husband Ray of Orrstown, Jane L. Bender and her husband Richard of Newburg, and Bonnie S. Shearer and her husband Donald of Shippensburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Newburg United Methodist Church, 203 N. High St., Newburg, PA 17240. Officiating will be The Rev. Margaret H. Spengler. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. The viewings will be Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the church and one hour prior to the services on Sunday.
