Anna Gipe

Anna Marie Gipe, 90, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born August 22, 1925 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late John Franklin and Carrie Marybell Henderson Hockenberry.

Anna retired in 1985 from Letterkenny Army Depot as a heavy packer/forklift operator after 37 years of service. She was a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Ladies Auxiliary and the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Shippensburg. She enjoyed playing BINGO. Anna loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Gloria J. Yaukey, two brothers; John and K. Leroy Hockenberry, all of Shippensburg, two grandsons; Thomas L. (wife Robin) Yaukey, of Shippensburg, and William B. (wife Heidi) Yaukey, of Greencastle, four great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, one great-great grandson to be, one very close niece whom she helped raise, Judy L. (husband Joe) McCoy and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Gipe who died February 28, 1961, one brother, Harry C. Hockenberry, one sister, Margaret A. Varner, and son in-law Denny Yaukey.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with The Rev. Philip Steele officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
