Anna Dunlap

February 22, 1941 — July 23, 2020

Anna Mary Dunlap, 79, of Newville, was promoted into Glory on the evening of Thursday, July 23, 2020, at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 22, 1941, in Oakville, a daughter of the late Alfred E. and Anna Louise (Burkholder) Miller. Anna Mary was a 1959 graduate of Big Spring High School. She married Donald B. Dunlap on June 11, 1960, in the former Oakville E.U.B. Church.

Anna Mary had worked at United Telephone in Carlisle, then enjoyed a thirty-one year career as a secretary at the Big Spring High School.

She was a member of the Newburg First Church of God. In her free time Anna Mary enjoyed tending to her flower beds and bird watching. She liked to be creative and enjoyed doing arts and crafts projects, and she was known to be a very good cook. Anna Mary and Don loved to travel and visited all fifty states. They especially enjoyed their trips to Maine and Yellowstone National Park. Most importantly though, Anna Mary loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Donald B. Dunlap, Sr.; three sons, Donald B. Dunlap, Jr., and wife Sherry of Shippensburg, Pastor Kevin E. Dunlap and wife Karen of Newville, and Darrin L. Dunlap and wife Loni of Shippensburg; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Miller and wife Sandy of Newville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anna Mary was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, April Dunlap; and a brother, Norman Miller.

Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the Newburg First Church of God. Her son, Pastor Kevin E. Dunlap and Pastor Wayne A. Good will officiate. Visitation will be held after the completion of her memorial service. She will be laid to rest in the Newville Cemetery with a private family graveside service.
