Anna Barbara Coons, 77, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, March 13, 2022, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on July 13, 1944, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Dorcas (Unger) Cummings. Anna married Jack Coons on November 17, 1960.
Anna worked at the former McCoy Electronics, Mt. Holly Springs. She was a member of Mt. Top Ministries and loved going to her church.
Anna enjoyed the simple things in life, such as time spent with her family or just going to McDonalds on Friday’s to eat and have coffee. She enjoyed gardening, liked to cook and was very good at it, and really loved her dog, Chunky.
In addition to her husband of sixty-one years, Jack, she is survived by five children, Pam Shoemaker of Chambersburg, Ronald Coons and wife Diana of Fayetteville, Jim Coons and wife Karen of Chambersburg, Steve Coons and wife Melissa of Mainsville, and Lisa Coons of Shippensburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; four siblings, June Roqueplot, Cindy Ferry, Connie Hanley, and Dale Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey and Tony; and three great grandchildren.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Pastor Ken Reid will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, to help defray funeral expenses.
