Ann Victoria Straley, 64, of Shippensburg, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family December 19th, 2017.
She is survived by her loving husband Edward. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage and three children; son Joshua and wife Colleen and granddaughters Victoria and Emily of Mt. Joy; Beth Ann Houser and husband Jason and grandson Will of Shippensburg; Christina Sweat and husband Joshua and grandson Harlan of Shippensburg.
Ann was born in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Wilbur Carthey and Ramona (Heffner) Carthey. She is survived by her sister, Lisa Fichera and husband Michael of New Tripoli, PA.
Ann and her family moved to Pennsylvania in 1965 and settled in Newburg. She graduated from Shippensburg Area High School in 1971. Throughout her life, Ann was passionate about caring for others. This led her to serve as a volunteer at James Burd Elementary School where she worked with students living with autism. She later was employed at Shippensburg Area Middle School as a teacher's assistant supporting and caring for students with special needs.
Ann had an overwhelming love for animals. She enjoyed many pets, all were strays and rescues that she brought into the Straley family with loving arms.
Ann is best remembered by all for her compassion for others. She loved all and judged none. Everyone she touched found her to be a remarkable person with a beautiful soul.
A memorial service will be held at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 East Orange St., Shippensburg, on Friday December 29th at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow the service.
