Amey May Griffie, 90, of Shippensburg, passed away the afternoon of Monday, December 9, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 26, 1934 in Newville, a daughter of the late David Nailor and Mary Salisbury Miller.
Amey worked as a certified nursing assistant at the former Cumberland County Nursing Home. Throughout her life, she took in many foster children and had a passion for caring for children. She was a member of the Mt. Rock Brethren in Christ Church and Newville American Legion Post #421.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Stonebraker of Shippensburg, Margaret Handshew and husband David of Newville, Marie Hess and husband David of Gardners, and Mildred Wagner of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren, Amey White, April Barrett and significant other Jeremy Dutterer, Adam Stonebraker and significant other Morgan Shaffer, Aaron Stonebraker, Desire Handshew, Tabitha Handshew, Sabrina Astrella and husband Robert, Michael Bitner and significant other Bambi Henke, and Chance Wagner; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Oscar “Buzz” Miller of Newville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Griffie, whom passed away on August 7, 2016. Also preceding in death are one daughter, Melinda Moyer; two infant sons; and three siblings, Samuel Miller, Gladys Paxton, and Virginia Menges.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Per Amey’s wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service.
