Albert J. Cook

Albert J. Cook, 93, a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Chambersburg, died on April 28, 2011.
Born on October 13, 1917, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Daniel and Minnie Jones Cook. Albert attended the Shippensburg Area High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, inducted on May 8, 1942 and honorably discharged on October 2, 1945, receiving a Purple Heart in the South Pacific Theater.
On June 15, 1946, Albert married Ms. Marie C. Wenger in Shippensburg. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2006.
Albert was employed as a supply clerk at the Letterkenny Army Depot., retiring in 1977.
He was a long time member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren, a former deacon, and a member of the Savy Seniors. A member of Chambersburg’s Falling Spring AARP Chapter #2840, the N.A.R.F., and the Mason-Dixon Camping Club.
Albert is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Dr. J. Gerald Greiner will officiate. Interment with military honors, conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veteran’s Council, will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be on Monday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at church.
