Obituary

Vivian B. Keefer, 89, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, formerly of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Friday, December 25, 2020.

She was born on May 17, 1931, in Mifflintown, a daughter of the late Edward C. and Catherine (Zeiders) Benner.

After graduating from the Franklin Square School of Nursing in Baltimore, Vivian worked as a registered nurse for over twenty five years, at the former Guillford Hill Nursing Home, Chambersburg Hospital and Carlisle Hospital, from where she retired.

Vivian was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg Historical Society, and the former Shippensburg SHARP Club, and she enjoyed traveling to Florida. Vivian will be remembered as a great nurse, excellent homemaker, and wonderful mother.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert E. Keefer, Jr., and wife Jodi of Jupiter, FL, and Terry T. Keefer and wife Marchetta of Winston Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Christian and Catherine Keefer; her brother, Larry Benner of Carlisle; her sister, Mary Kremonas of Silver Spring, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert E. Keefer, Sr., who died on September 18, 2008.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time, per Vivian’s wishes, however, a graveside burial of her and her husband’s cremated remains, will be planned for the springtime, in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Lutheran Church.

Bob and Terry, How blessed you were to have your mother in your life for all this time. She was truly one of a kind! I will always remember her sense of humor. My tears, my prayers and fervent wish that you will find peace from your memories. Tuck those
memories deep in your heart and she will always be with you.

Mrs. Keefer was the sweetest ladies that I grew to know. I would have done so much more for her but she loved the flower arrangements that I made so I made her one and she loved it! I miss seeing her beautiful face around town and most of all where I work. She did stop in once in a while as long as she was able. She was and is beautiful inside and out.

To the friends and family of Mrs. Keefer,

We are truly sad for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are frequent for those who suffer due to the anguish of losing a loved one. We all experience this loss but the Bible teaches that God shares your loss and your pain at Psalm 116:15.
The scriptures brought us comfort when we've lost loved ones and I hope it helps at this most difficult time. Because those who pass on are precious in Gods eyes, He's provided the scriptures to give comfort but also show us his plan for those who have entered rest. We could not have had a more pleasant caring neighbor. Always so thoughtful she never forgot to ask after our daughters long after they were grown .
