Obituary

David A. Norman, 55, of Walnut Bottom, departed this life unexpectedly on Thursday, March 11, 2020.

He was born on December 18, 1964, in Rushville, IN, a son of Billy Joe and Patricia (Concannon) Norman. He was a 1984 graduate of Big Spring High School in Newville, PA.

David worked in the textile industry as a machine operator at Masland in Carlisle, PA.

He was always very creative and was never hesitant to do and try new things. In his free time David enjoyed playing music, listening to music, studying Jujitsu, teaching self-defense, gardening, and landscaping. He was also known to be an excellent cook.

In addition to his parents, David is survived by his son, Taylor J. Norman of Carlisle; three siblings, Barbara A. Norman of Royersford, James T. Norman and wife Meghan of Schwenksville, and Janice D. Norman of Carlisle; two nieces; one nephew; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph P. Norman.

A memorial service will be held at a future date and time due to the COVID-19 virus. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made in David’s honor to Neighbors in Christ, 111 West Big Spring Avenue, Newville, PA 17241-1601 or Big Spring United Lutheran Church, 101 Crossroad School Road, Newville, PA 17241-1601 (www.bsulc.org).

The world is now less creative, less witty and sardonic, less fearless. It has lost a bit of the fire in its heart. Martial arts, drawing, and music, food, philosophy; what he knew, he would share. He was always willing to tell you about what life had whispered or yelled to him. As infrequently as a saw him, I always went away better. He was a unique teacher and friend, and we don't get many of those.--DG

You were my husband's best friend. You've done and seen a lot together over the last 40 some years and the stories I've heard I feel I've known you just as long but I'm glad to have known you for 20 of them.I will miss your jokes and stories and coming up to jam with Ken and staying the weekends...he will miss that too. You have been a wonderful friend that I hope you realized how much I appreciated. Please know how much you will be missed. We hope you are at peace now.
Pat and Bill, Ken and I are feeling your pain as we feel it too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both and please do not hesitate to call us for what ever is needed, even if it is to talk.
Rest in peace Dave.
