She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Ric H. Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University, where she enjoyed transporting the performers from place to place. In her youth, she was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling.

Marie is survived by two nephews, Robert A. (wife Cathy) Matteucci, North Wildwood, NJ, and Joseph E. (wife Nancy) Matteucci, Cape May Court House, NJ; five great nephews; three great nieces; one great-great nephew; one great-great niece; and one niece- in-law, Sharon Matteucci.

In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Matteucci (wife Rachel); stepfather Edwin Swintak; and a nephew, Mark J. Matteucci.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon, at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, with Father Dwight D. Schlaline as Celebrant. Burial will be private. A visitation will held one hour prior to the service at the Church.

I first met Marie when I began to volunteer at the H. Ric Luhrs Center and she was always a joy to be around. On behalf of Luhrs, she helped so many of the performers and their staff while in Shippensburg and I think she did so for no pay. I remember her 'showing me the ropes' when I started as a volunteer and it was so kind of her to do so. When there were Saturday performances at Luhrs, I would go to the 5pm Mass at Our Lady of the Visitation and looked forward to sitting with her. I will miss her kind smiling face and rich spirit.

Marie was quite the bowler back when Jay Wright owned & operated the bowling alley in town! She lived in an apartment right above it she bowled in a couple different leagues! She was a top notch bowler as well as a person! Marie was always friendly & fun to be around! My thoughts & prayers are with her family!
