Obituary

James A. Hulse, Sr., 76, of Newburg, departed this life on the evening of Monday, October 14, 2019.

He was born on May 12, 1943, in Bricktown, NJ, a son of the late Albert T. and Mary E. (Ortley) Hulse, Jr., and married Karel F. Anderson on November 16, 1963 in Bay Head, NJ.

James worked as a bricklayer and mason for over forty years, retiring from B & B Masonry, Shippensburg. He was currently working for Hopewell Township, responsible for maintaining the Township Park.

James was known for breeding Beagles, which he did for the majority of his life. One of his most favorite things to do was take his dogs hunting and listen to them run. James was a member of the Shippensburg Fish and Game Association and a former member of the Lebanon County Beagle Club. He also liked fishing, bluegrass music, making wine, and spending time with his family most of all. James will fondly be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Karel, he is survived by one son, James A. Hulse, Jr., and wife Jill of Bernville; two daughters, Cheryl A. Diehl and husband John of Newburg and Lorraine M. Del Castillo and husband Casey of Newville; one brother, Edward V. Hulse of Montana; one sister, Ethel E. Palumbo of Micco, FL; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gloria Chervenak.

His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Dave Dulaney will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hunt of a Lifetime at www.huntofalifetime.org.
