Obituary

C. Blanche Linn, 109, of Shippensburg, departed this life peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at her home.

She was born on April 27, 1910, in Mongul, the daughter of the late John and Florence (Gruver) Hoch.

Blanche was a homemaker throughout her life and also worked for her mother at the former Mom Hoch’s Restaurant in her younger years. She had a strong faith in God and was a very active member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. Blanche was a great cook and an even better baker, known for her delicious pies, cakes, cookies, and candies. She would feed just about anyone who came by to visit. Blanche also loved working in the flower beds around her home, sewing, and making stuffed animals.

She was always a very strong willed, independent, and positive person. Blanche never liked to complain and took life in stride when dealing with the ups and downs of living such a long and fruitful life. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who very much enjoyed caring for others.

She is survived by one son, Harry R. Boher of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren, Beverly Boher, Barbara (Boher) Martin, Bobbi Jo (Boher) Tilley, Roger “Skip” Boher, Jr., William “Bill” Grove, Richard Tominello, Greg Tominello, and Jaison Schafer; many great and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger S. Boher; second husband, Homer H. Linn; two sons, Roger L. Boher and Larry H. Linn; two step-sons, William and James Linn; two step-daughters, Beatrice Wenner and Ann Abrams; two grandchildren, Robert L. and Richard R. Boher; and her brother, Harry Hoch.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Shippensburg First Church of God. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God at 121 East King Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.

Blanche Linn - Mom, Gramma, Gram - known by many names, was as strong as, if not stronger than, the tallest of trees. May this tree honor her love of the gardening and the outdoors and symbolize her long life of providing welcome shade and sanctuary to all who crossed her path.

Tony my deepest condolences. I love hearing stories about your grandma from Butch and Dawn. I always ask about her. Dawn would start laughing then tell me the story. I just asked Dawn about you and grandma that’s when. Dawn told me she passed. Toby you are a great person to stop your life to take care of Grandma. Your are very special person to do this. God bless you Toby. Make sure she had her lip stick on.

Toby, you and Shawn are so much more to Gramma Linn than one of the "many great and great great grandchildren" You are "the greatest" great grandchild. And it started well before you moved in. I was going through old letters and found one from the early 90's, where she was telling me that Uncle Buddy, your dad, and you had come over to help with her mountain of leaves and how much she appreciated it. You truly are the reason at 109, Gramma Linn was living and in the end died peacefully in her own home. Love you and Shawn so very much!
