Obituary for Rodney E. Aby

Rodney E. Aby, 70, of Carlisle, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation, Carlisle.

He was born on March 9, 1947, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Harry A. “Dick” Aby and Helen D. Hawkins Aby.

Rodney was employed in the construction industry, as a carpenter and superintendent, all of his life. He was self-employed, working along-side his brother and also worked for several companies within the Carlisle area.
In his younger years, Rodney enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed going to gun raffles and gun collecting, knife making, and woodworking. His greatest joy in recent years was spending time with his granddaughter, Makayla.

In addition to his mother, Helen, Rodney is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Debbie; two sons, Matthew T. Grimm of Carlisle and Marcus V. (Renee) Aby of Newville; granddaughter, Makayla A. Aby of Newville; two brothers, Gary L. (Darlene) Aby of Shippensburg and Samuel E. (Terry Bell) Aby of Charleston, SC; nephew, Eric A. Aby of Carlisle; great niece, Kailey L. Aby of Carlisle; and many additional nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father.

His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Darlene Stouffer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
